ABOUT
Discover the wonders of the Elk Valley in an unforgettable day camp packed with adventure and environmental exploration! Campers dive into the beauty of our watershed as they raft the Elk River, swim, fish, hike, paddleboard, and kayak. Along the way, they’ll connect with the natural world, learning about local wildlife, river ecology, forest ecosystems, and the importance of protecting our environment. Sessions with Ktunaxa knowledge holders offer deeper insight into the land, Ktunaxa culture, and traditional ecological knowledge.
An optional overnight campout for older campers adds even more magic to the experience, giving campers the chance to set up tents, enjoy classic campfire activities, share stories with friends, and experience the fun of sleeping outdoors.
Our experienced leaders ensure every camper explores, discovers, and learns in a safe, supportive environment. Join us for a summer filled with outdoor excitement, environmental discovery, and a deeper appreciation for the natural world!

MEET THE CAMPS DIRECTOR

HI, I’M ALEX!
Originally from Edmonton, I completed a Master’s degree in aquatic ecology at Queen’s University before moving to Fernie in 2020. My passion for ecology, driven by the desire to connect with and understand my environment, has evolved to include a love of education and community outreach. I am grateful to unite my two passions, for science and education, by running ERAs summer camp program. I believe that a personal connection to nature is essential for wanting to protect our most precious resources. I’m also happy to continue my career in science supporting the ERAs diverse programs in any way I can.
