Give your kids and teens an unforgettable experience full of thrilling fun and outdoor adventure! The Elk Watershed Discovery Camp is a week-long day camp filled with smiles, splashes, and skills for youth aged 7-10 and 11-14. The camp gives kids the chance to make friends and develop outdoor skills throughout our mountain community. We put an emphasis on environmental stewardship and learning about the natural environment in which we live and play. Activities include: whitewater rafting, fly fishing, hiking, and stewardship. Learning topics include: water & river safety, Ktunaxa cultural appreciation and learning, ecology, geography, and geology.

Ages 7-10 camp: rafting will be Canyon Rafting’s ‘River Mild’ trip (on the upper Elk River, between Sparwood and Fernie) 

Ages 11-14 camp, without overnight: rafting will be Canyon Rafting’s ‘River Wild’ trip (on the lower Elk River) this camp also includes paddle boarding at Surveyor’s Lake. 

Ages 11-14 camp, with overnight option: one night camping (optional) at Kikomun Creek provincial park, rafting will be Canyon Rafting’s ‘River Wild’ trip (on the lower Elk River) this camp also includes paddle boarding at Surveyor’s Lake.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Camper must provide their own lunches and snacks (except raft day).
  • 1 life Jacket per camper
  • Water appropriate footwear: sturdy sandals or shoes. No flipflops
  • Weather appropriate clothing (rain gear if necessary)

DAILY SCHEDULE

Drop off: 9:00 AM

Pick up: 4:00 PM

Drop off and pick up are at the College of the Rockies in Fernie

Already a member? Please email camps@elkriveralliance.ca using the same address you submitted during member sign up

Elk River Alliance members get early-bird access to the registration package, which means you get to be first in line when official registration opens to the public. You can pick up your registration package from the Elk River Alliance office starting February 17, or request to get it mailed to your address. Registration package must be returned by March 17th.
